How To Make A Festive Holiday Garland
You’ll want to start this project a day in advance so that you can dehydrate the orange slices. To prepare the orange slices, cut the 2 thickest slices from the middle of 6 oranges. Then take your straw and punch a hole in the center of each slice. Place these slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and put in a low oven for 4-6 hours.
Cut your twine to the desired length and thread a loop through one of the orange slices like this:
Bundle one cinnamon stick and a few sprigs of evergreen material and insert it into the twine loop. Gently pull the twine through the back to tighten.
Tie a knot in the twine to secure the cinnamon stick and evergreen bundle.
Continue along the length of your twine until you’ve used up all of your orange slices or reached the desired length of garland you’d like to make.
Hang your garland where it will get a bit of sun or will be heated slightly by your wood stove or oven. Just don’t hang it directly above your oven! The gentle heat will help release the scents of the orange, cinnamon, and cedar into the air and make your home smell delightful!
